A long-forgotten enemy has re-emerged as a harbinger of disaster. The Demon King is approaching and if no champion rises to bring him down, the world will succumb to his corruption. Seek out powerful weapons and artefacts by day and battle his minions by night, all the while preparing for terrifying entities from another time to hunt you down relentlessly in this roguelike role-playing game.

Every three days, a terrifying new henchman of the Demon King, chosen from over 30 potential bosses, begins his hunt. Study the unique strengths and powers of each monster and adapt accordingly. Explore the realm in search of the right weapons and equipment to take on this fearsome predator, but beware of the other monstrosities that roam the world by night. Your time is limited: will you choose to sharpen your blade in one of the ancient hidden forges, pay top dollar for precious trinkets from greedy merchants or set off in search of powerful armour and magical shields? Opt for the tools that will work best against the powerful enemy hunting you down today. But don't forget to prepare for what's to come: you'll have to defeat the guardians of each kingdom before facing the Demon King himself.

Test out a multitude of strategies and synergies with over 350 items at your disposal to face the unique challenges presented by each monstrous boss. When the Grizzly Vive-griffe, whose ferocious attacks pierce all armour, stalks you, will you choose to sacrifice your armour in favour of equipment that focuses on maximum health, speed or damage? The lesser monsters that populate the realms will wage a war of attrition against heroes and heroines who have dispensed with their armour. So even if the Grizzly Vive-griffe is defeated, three days may not be enough to improve your armour and prepare you to face your next great enemy. To replace the armour, you can find a number of items that can improve your speed and the power of your attacks, enabling you to strike with force and before your opponent so that you can defeat him quickly (perhaps even before he can strike back). If you're lucky enough to find the Saffron Feather, you'll be able to take advantage of its high speed to regenerate your health in battle. But if the Black Knight, capable of absorbing your direct attack power and using it against you, is on your tail, armour will once again become your priority over attack strength. Thanks to the Vive-écaille armour, which can reflect the damage received, and the ruby earrings, which inflict damage every other turn, the Black Knight will receive continuous damage without being able to absorb direct damage. And if you were to stumble across a powerful magical weapon, would you dare grab it in the knowledge that it would not only make the Black Knight stronger, but would also be of use to you if you managed to survive?

There are a plethora of options to suit each threat, with a variety of powerful combinations to discover and exploit. With limited space in your inventory, you'll need to make considered decisions and constantly adapt as you choose from the many items at your disposal, making trade-offs between short- and long-term threats.

He is Coming also features an asynchronous multiplayer mode, Sovereignty, where you can go on a quest for the Demon King's lost crown and test your strategies against those of other players. Plan your battle based on the equipment and abilities of these heroes and heroines to win the crown. Prepare yourself for a relentless assault, unique combinations and unexpected circumstances... Will you be able to rise above your opponents?

You'll achieve great victories and suffer noble defeats. Each game will contribute to your progress as you take on over 100 unique challenges, adding powerful new artefacts to the items available in subsequent games. Your first hero may not be able to defeat the Demon King, but his efforts will not be in vain.
