In this action game, players take part in 4-on-4 magic battles and use all sorts of spells to defeat the opposing team. The protagonist, Asta, is the only boy unable to use magic in a world where it is everywhere. Despite his inability to use it, Asta manages to pass the many tests with the help of his friends to achieve his goal: to become Emperor Mage.

This game also contains an original story not featured in the current Black Clover anime. Yami Sukehiro, the captain of the Black Bull, the order of knights Asta has joined, begins to grow younger just as a mysterious mage launches an attack on the kingdom of Clover.
