The story takes place between Act 1 and Act 2 of Hello Neighbor.

A group of children are trying to break into their sinister neighbour's basement to rescue their missing friend. The problem is that a traitor has infiltrated their ranks: the neighbour is pretending to be one of them. His aim is to win the trust of the other players and then betray them at the last minute. The children win the game if they reach the basement.

If you play a child :

• Collect keys
  
• Save your friends from the neighbour's clutches
  
• Cooperate by staying on your guard

If you play the neighbour :

• The house is your domain! Use it to separate, scare and disorientate intruders.
  
• Use your gadgets to catch the children's team off guard.
  
• Gain the trust of your enemies and attack at the last minute.
  
• Protect your basement!
