United States, 1830: the New World is booming. Industry is in full swing and the race to establish the most conquering and powerful railway empire in North America has begun. Now is the time to go faster and think further than your competitors if you want to bring your company full steam ahead into the 20th century.
In Railway Empire, you can create an extensive and complex rail network , acquire over 40 different locomotives modelled in extraordinary detail, and buy or build stations, maintenance buildings, factories and tourist attractions to keep your transport network one step ahead. You'll also need to hire and manage your employees to ensure a consistently efficient service. You'll progress through five eras of innovation, developing over 300 technologies : from mechanical improvements to new trains, professional infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment.
But research and construction won't be enough. Competition knows no rest, and you'll need to keep your business on track despite up to three other rival companies. More ruthless tactics may be needed to get to the top, with raids and industrial espionage becoming your weapons for attacking and sabotaging your rivals.
