A squad-based RPG in an open world, with sandbox-style gameplay rather than a linear story. You can be a merchant, a thief, a rebel, a warlord, an adventurer, a farmer, a slave... or just food for cannibals.
Search for materials and make new equipment. Buy and improve your own buildings. Turn them into fortified shelters to take refuge in when things go wrong, or use them to start a business. Help or fight the various factions in the world, while making sure you retain enough strength and wealth... You'll need it to survive in this unforgiving desert. Train your men in combat to transform them from frail victims into master warriors. Carry the wounded of your squad to safety and back to base alive.
- Free-form gameplay in a fluid universe, in the biggest single-player RPG world since Daggerfall. Spanning over 870 square kilometres, the game will never try to limit you or your personal play style.
- Create as many bespoke characters as you like, and build a squad to fight for you. Characters will evolve and become stronger with experience, not just in their stats but also in their appearance.
- An original twist on the RTS-RPG hybrid genre. No "hero" characters with artificially higher stats than the others. All the characters and NPCs you meet are potentially your equals and have a name, a life.

- Gameplay variations and possibilities. You're free to do good or evil, to be a businessman or a thief, to live in the city or the desert, to travel alone or en masse, to build a fortress or raze a city to the ground. You can dedicate yourself to freeing slaves, or perhaps become a slave yourself.
- A dynamic, ever-changing world
- Support or hinder whoever you want, or keep your distance... either way, the world will never stop changing. This isn't just a 'game', you're living and surviving in a simulated world.
- You may be captured by cannibals and eaten alive, or sold by slavers and forced to work in the mines. These events are not scripted, they are just part of this chaotic world that can destroy your life completely by chance. Anything can happen, but anything can also be overcome if you're strong enough.
- No level scaling. The world doesn't adapt to your progress and shops don't change their inventory to offer only items suited to your level. At the start of the game, almost everyone will be stronger than you, and you'll always have to fight to survive. The game won't hold your hand or help you out when you're in trouble.
- Realistic medical system that affects gameplay. A character with a leg injury will limp or crawl and slow down the group. With arm injuries, you'll have to wield your sword one-handed... or be unable to use it at all. Serious injuries will lead to amputations and limbs will have to be replaced with robotic prostheses. Blood loss can lead to fainting and attract predators. A character's stats will be affected by his equipment, load, blood loss, wounds and hunger.
- Intelligent AI that allows characters to reason and pursue long-term goals and motivations. Squads work together and get their wounded to safety. You can have characters manage many tasks for you and take care of production at your base.
- Help or fight the different factions in the world while making sure you retain enough strength and wealth... You'll need it to survive in this unforgiving environment.
