Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 for PC is a tactical shooter with a strong puzzle-kill element (these are shooters with a puzzle-solving element to determine or access the correct target). This is the second of the 'Contracts', but the sixth in total, in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series.

About the game

The game is an immersive stealth-based simulation with massive maps and great replayability. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 offers players plenty of creative opportunities for observation and curiosity. One of the game's best moments is the ridiculously long (seriously ridiculous!) shots you make in the game. The Bullet cam is dramatic, but great fun, and will add to the success of your precision shooting!

Playing as Raven, an assassin with a long list of successful contracts under his belt, you'll start the game in an exotic location with your list of targets to eliminate. The game is set in the present day, rather than in an alternate past as in the previous instalment.

As ever with these games, you can't just rush in and take out everyone in sight... Well, you can, but it tends to have consequences! Pay attention and take note of enemy soldiers, use explosive barrels and fuse boxes to set up each mission and generally see how creative you can get. Talk to as many locals as you can without arousing suspicion and see what information, if any, they can offer.

You can replay your favourite contracts to earn upgrades, bonuses and cool gadgets to help you become an even better sniper. And you can carry out each mission in a different way every time, learning how you can use the environment to meet your nefarious objectives.

The basics

In the first games you could make long-range shots from around 400 m, but in this one we can make long-range precision shots from 1,000 m to 1,400 m! At that range, people won't even hear the shot that kills the guy standing right next to them! Nor will they hear your cry of joy when they see them fall!

Just to reiterate: there's nearly a mile to get your shot right - and you more or less have to do it from a single vantage point. The game is set up to encourage you to try and mix up your approach a bit, with some targets only accessible from a distance, while others can be messier and more creative, up close and very personal!

You can also sneak through some camps of falling bad guys or henchmen with a silenced handgun, but the sniper element of the game (as implied by the title) is by far the most fun. The maps are divided into disparate zones with primary and secondary mission maps clearly delineated, so you always know where you are and where you should be.

Speaking of creativity, you can use your bullets to drop objects (a hanging container or a huge statue, for example) on your targets, and you also earn points for style and creativity, but getting the job done, whether it's with a dramatic touch or a classic bullet to the brain, is what counts in the long run .

You'll need to master using the scope to work out how far away your target is, and that can be quite tricky, but it's worth doing those oh-so-satisfying ridiculously long shots . The wind indicators also take some getting used to, but they can help you identify your targets.

Mission-assist features

Your weapons are highly specialised and your pack comes with various assist features that you can turn on or off to increase or decrease the difficulty of the game. These include:

An automatic sniper turret that helps you mark and capture your targets

Use binoculars to explore the terrain, in particular to find high points

Your drone can fly over difficult areas, spotting hiding enemies

Finally, not quite as sophisticated as the others, you can crawl to sneak into enemy camps
