As with other basketball simulation games, there are several options available to players. You can choose to play as one of the many players uploaded to the game, with realistic stats and their playing preferences already filled in, or you can choose to build your own player, adding character and plenty of personality, ball control and strategic ability!

There are twelve world-class teams - all based on real teams - with player hairstyles and faces captured with precision in the studios. As ever, there are plenty of microtransactions for the impatient who want to get to the top of coaching and play pool as quickly as possible, but you can get exactly the same results by winning and collecting the items you want, or need, instead. This game features a larger-than-usual open world, so your characters can get out of the training room and explore more of the game, see what they can find and use, and enjoy some downtime when they're not training.
The game's graphics and coding have been improved so that ball handling and defensive plays are smoother, as well as being more rewarding. The AI has been updated to provide a more realistic interaction between the player and the computer.
