On the one hand the Organon simply wants to wipe out Deponia, on the other the adorable Goal has (once again) disappeared, and in between that anti-hero Rufus just seems capable of making the worst possible trouble for himself.
Yet all this free-thinking (and inventor) Rufus wants is to get out of Deponia, that dump planet, and finally reach Elysium, that paradise orbiting Deponia in a spaceship reserved for the highest society. Goal, the damsel who has fallen from Elysium (losing her memory in the process) and with whom Rufus has fallen (stupidly) in love, seems to be the key to all his (twisted) plans and to his lift (or ascent) into space. But this time, Rufus has a plan, a good plan, which seems perfect.
Of course, everything that could go wrong does go wrong at the worst possible moment. Rufus (initially in disguise) finds himself under the suspicious gaze of the Organon police, while Goal disappears from view. When Rufus stumbles across a cloning machine, he thinks he's found his ticket to heaven. A clone should help him solve all his problems. Alas, an "inexplicable" error only adds to his (big) complications and Goal once again slips out of our hero's hands. Now he has THREE problems on his hands: finding Goal, reaching Elysium and stopping Organon from destroying the entire planet Deponia.
Three problems... so it will take three Rufus to tackle them, and our loser inventor decides to clone himself! And now it's up to the player to get their act together: in Goodbye Deponia, they'll have to control the THREE
Rufus in order to do all the right things, despite that idiot Rufus now having three times as many opportunities to mess things up.
Goodbye Deponia is the third instalment and epic conclusion to the Deponia saga, which was awarded the Deutscher Computerspielpreis (Best German Game) for 2013.
All three instalments take place on the wasteland planet Deponia. This classic point & click adventure delighted comedy fans as well as veterans and beginners of this type of game. Deponia features superb 2D hand-drawn comic book-style graphics, with sarcastic dialogue and dark humour. The series has won numerous awards, including Best German Game (Deutscher Computerspielpreis) and many other prizes for developers in Germany.
