Two years have passed since Gorbachev was overthrown in a coup d'état by hard-line Communists and, on those dark summer days in 1989, the Cold War is finally heating up. The armies of NATO and the Warsaw Pact were engaged in a divided and turbulent Germany. Conflict was imminent. All that remains is to wait for the inevitable warning order that will set everything in motion. War is coming, commanders...

WARNO - Warning Order - lets you command your own personalised battle group and lead hundreds of Cold War-specific units to victory. Choose your army from the arsenal of NATO or Warsaw Pact forces, and fight in a multitude of single-player and online modes against human or AI opponents in massive 10-on-10 battles. Prove yourself as a strategic commander in the turn-based Army General campaigns, which depict a devastating and terrifying World War 3 in Western Europe.

Take control of your battle group

• The armed forces of six nations - aligned with NATO or the Warsaw Pact - can be led in a hyper-detailed Third World War as the United States, West Germany, the United Kingdom and France take on the Soviet Union and East Germany. From combat soldiers and tanks to mobile SAM systems, self-propelled artillery, reconnaissance helicopters, attack aircraft and fast interceptors, each WARNO nation has an exceptional arsenal of vehicles, aircraft and soldiers.
• More than 600 different military units are represented, including the mighty M1A1 Abrams, the British MCV-80 Warrior, French Gazelles, reconnaissance helicopters, German Leopard tanks, Spetsnaz special forces, SU-25 Frogfoot, East German KPz T-55AM2 combat helicopters and Mil Mi-24 Hind. In the armoury, each unit can be analysed and compared in detail.
• A large number of divisions: each with its own identity, equipment and level of training. Use the units available, choose the age of your forces and customise your tactical groups.

A new dimension to warfare

• Discover 4 strategic turn-based 'Army General' campaigns, centred on the theatre of operations of the NATO CENTAG and the Warsaw Pact's Central Group of Forces in 1989, putting you right at the heart of the war near the infamous Fulda Gap.
• Army General campaigns allow you to command hundreds of military units and formations, right down to platoon level: the US 11th Armoured Cavalry Regiment and the US 3rd Armoured Division, the West German 5. West German Panzer Division, the Soviet 79th Guards Armoured Division and 27th Guards Motorised Rifle Division and the East German 7. East German Panzer Division.
• New scripted operations allow you to embark on brand new tactical missions that retrace the thrilling course of an all too real conflict.

• Discover an ever-changing battlefield that has never looked so real, from detailed environments to violent destruction. The latest version of our proprietary engine best simulates modern ground and air combat in Western Europe.
• The maps are incredibly rich in tactical options: hills, small villages, dense forests, winding rivers, bridges and industrial zones to capture. Beware of ambushes or overrun manoeuvres as you capture command areas that contribute to a side's victory or defeat.
