Let us introduce you to our modest contribution to this honourable lineage: the RogueVania, the illegitimate child born of the marriage between a modern roguelite (Rogue Legacy, Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Spelunky, etc.) and an old-school Metroidvania.

From MetroidVanias, Dead Cells borrows its interconnected levels, the progressive unlocking of the island, a strong incentive to explore and a certain progression of the character you play as. From the Roguelites, player progression, the return to the first level in the event of defeat, the pressure and adrenaline associated with the absence of save points, nervous, demanding, unforgiving combat and unparalleled replayability.
