Children of Morta is an action RPG with a rogue-lite approach to character progression. You don't play a single character, but rather an entire family of extraordinary heroes. Cut your way through procedurally generated lands, dungeons and caves, and lead the Bergson family, with all their qualities and flaws, in their fight against Corruption.
LOCAL COOPERATION is already available in the game, so two players can take on the role of the Bergsons and fight Corruption together. ONLINE COOPERATION is still in development and will be available with a future update.
You can also use Steam's Remote Play Together. This feature lets you play local multiplayer games with your Steam friends online, even if the game in question doesn't natively have an online mode. Find out more HERE.
This isa unique blend of action/adventure RPG, roguelite and hack'n'slash. As you gain levels, you not only advance your characters, but also the whole family. A character's death is never permanent, and you can choose to play as another member of the family between games.
The story takes place in a faraway land, but the themes and emotions are familiar: love and hope, desire and uncertainty, but also loss... and the sacrifices we are prepared to make to save those we love. Ultimately, it's the story of a family of heroes fighting against a darkness that continues to gain ground.
All of the game's dungeons are procedurally generated, meaning that they are different for each adventure. Each dungeon can consist of between two and four levels, with a unique final boss. You can return to previous dungeons at any time to gain extra EXP or finish all the side quests.
Ranged attacks, spells, blocks, stuns, heals, dodges and passive skills... It's all there for you to discover, unlock and upgrade. There are seven family members to choose from, each with their own skills. The father, John, a protective warrior equipped with sword and shield. The eldest daughter, Linda, an archer of formidable precision. Kevin, a discreet fighter armed with deadly daggers. The fire magician, Lucy, whose spirit is matched only by her bravery. The very calm Mark, a martial arts practitioner, and Joey, who crushes his enemies with a hammer. And last but not least, Apan, a powerful healer and protector.
A combination of hand-drawn pixel art and frame-by-frame animation, combined with modern lighting techniques to bring the sumptuous but dangerous world of Children of Morta to life!
