The year is 184 AD, China, at the end of the Han dynasty. The country is engulfed in chaos and destruction. The once prosperous imperial dynasty is on the verge of collapse.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an event-filled adventure that follows the adventures of an unnamed militiaman fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the late Han Dynasty, where demons plague the three kingdoms. Using his sword and Chinese martial arts, the player will battle demons and soldiers alike, attempting to overcome obstacles by awakening the power that lies dormant within him.

Wo Long, which means 'crouching dragon' in Chinese, also refers to a hero or important person who has yet to make a name for himself. This story is about officers who end up becoming heroes, and follows them through their 'unknown' period. It will also be the story of the rise of a protagonist who has yet to make a name for himself.
