Next-generation technology

Throughout the Early Access updates, players will gradually gain access to a range of next-generation tools and technologies, including new engines, parts, fuels and more. These new technologies will not only allow players to solve never-before-seen challenges, they will also enable them to take on new space exploration challenges within the Kerbal system and beyond!

Colonies

Colonies are one of the new features introduced by Kerbal Space Program 2. Colonies pose their own physical challenges, but will also require you to collect resources in order to build structures, space stations and homes, and will have specific fuel requirements. Gradually, these colonies will become advanced enough for you to build new vehicles and venture deeper and deeper into space.

Interstellar travel

Taken together, these new technologies, colonies and resource recovery allow a new kind of exploration to emerge: interstellar travel. In Kerbal Space Program 2, interstellar technologies open the way to a host of new star systems and celestial bodies, each with its own challenges and secret treasures. For example, you can explore: Charr, a scorching hot iron planet; Ovin, a massive exoplanet surrounded by rings of crushing gravity; Rask and Rusk, twins entwined in a deadly tango; and many more to reward brave explorers.

Multiplayer and mods

The technological advances made to the foundations of Kerbal Space Program 2 have strengthened the modding tools so appreciated by the community and already present in the first game, and have also enabled us to develop the multiplayer features that so many of you have been asking us for. Soon, players will be able to tackle the challenges of space exploration together. Details of these features will be revealed at a later date.
